Color Guard
The JROTC Color Guard is formed from exceptional cadets. It represents the Cadet Corps and James Hillhouse High School at many formations, reviews, parades, home athletic events, other civic activities, and events throughout the year. These cadets normally practice prior to the day they must perform. They are authorized to wear a white shoulder cord and/or a helmet with their uniform. They also receive the Color Guard Ribbon.
Color Guard Commander-
1) Supervise Color Guard at all times.
2) knows throughly the procedures contained in chapter 9 of FM 22-5, ceremonies.
3) trains the Color guard so that they can perform the movements without fault.
4) Makes recommendations to the advisor for appointment of subordinate leaders.
Color Guard NCO in Charge-
1) Keep the roll book and prepare the recommendations for awards.
2) Assist in the supervision and training of the Color Guard.
3) Oversee the issue of weapons and equipment.
4) Ensure that the weapons, equipment, and colors are maintained in good order and cleaning when necessary.
5) Keep an inventory of all Color Guard equipment (e.g. shoulder cords, scarves, and white gloves).
6) Turn over to the Color Guard Commander a list of color guards for home games, parades, or any other commitments . this list will be posted on the hallway or classroom bulletin board
Practice: Practice will be held promptly at 1415 on a TBD day. Cancellations will be announced on this site as soon as they are discovered.
