Platoon Leader: The platoon leaders {Plt Ldr} responsibilities to the Co Cdr, are the same as the Company Commanders responsibilities to the battalion Commander. The platoon leader must be expert in all phases of drill and trains the platoon for perfection. Plt Ldr is the most desirable cadet officer assignment, the Plt Ldr is a leader with direct responsibility for the command and control of a unit composed of his/her peers. Specific duties as platoon leader are:
a. Organize and maintain an effective chain of command.
b. Learn the name of every cadet in the platoon and use their name when addressing each cadet.
c. Use the chain of command to accomplish task. The platoon leader deals with the platoon sergeant and squad leaders.
d. Be sure to know all cadet regulations, etc, and ensure that all members of the platoon know and follow them.
e. Enforce all orders from superiors whether he agrees with them or not. The platoon leader will not complain and gripe in the presence of subordinates

f. Develop a spirit of teamwork in the platoon insuring willing obedience, cooperation, and respect.

Platoon Sergeant: The platoon sergeant (PLT SGT) is the senior enlisted cadet in each platoon. The platoon sergeant supervises the other NCOs of the platoon and is responsible for the daily activities and training of the platoon. Specific duties of the platoon sergeant include:
a. Keeping the platoon leader informed at all times.
b. Forming and aligning the platoon at all formations.
c. Assisting the platoon leader in their duties and responsibilities.
d. Inspect the platoon and insuring that it is trained properly.
e. Reporting any problems promptly through the chain of command

Squad Leader: the squad leader (Sqd Ldr) is first in the chain of command. The Sqd Ldr must know every individual cadet assigned to their squad, and be prepared to assist them in all matters necessary to JROTC. Sqd Ldr must at all times set the examples. Specific duties of the squad leader include:
a. Forming the squad correctly.
b. Assisting in training the squad.
c. Setting the high standards of personal appearance and conduct for themselves. Remember, the squad leader is a leader, and he/she must set the example.
d. Thoroughly familiar with individual, squad and platoon drill commands.
e. Inspect the squad at all times and ensuring that they know what is required of them as cadets.
f. Reporting any problems directly and promptly through the chain of command.
g. Remember, the SQD LDR is the doer. They lead by example. The SQD LDR must ensure that each cadet learns what is expected, does what is expected, and maintains a high standard of conduct, appearance, and attitude.
